Mr. Knut Olav Rød joins Watrium from the position as managing director and partner at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), while Mr. Haakon Stenrød comes from a role as partner within investment banking at ABG Sundal Collier.

“We are very pleased with recruiting such highly experienced individuals as Knut Olav and Haakon. Over the past few years, Watrium has built up a solid, independent platform and delivered strong financial results. These senior appointments reflect our ambition to build on this platform and establish Watrium as one of the leading investment firms. We have capital to deploy and with Knut Olav and Haakon we have strengthened our capacity and capabilities in identifying and evaluating investment opportunities and to support value creation as an active owner,” says Anders Christian G. Wilhelmsen, chairman and investment officer of Watrium.

Knut Olav Rød comes from a position as managing director and partner at the international management consulting company The Boston Consulting Group (BCG). In BCG, Knut Olav led the Industrial Goods and Private Equity practice areas and has worked extensively with leading investment firms across the Nordics. His client work has focused on strategy development, large-scale transformations, full potential plans and M&A advisory. Knut Olav holds an M.Sc. in Industrial Economics and Technology Management from NTNU.

“I was attracted to Watrium by the ambition of establishing a leading investment firm that combines the flexibility, responsibility and long-term perspective of a family office with the impatience and active ownership of a private equity firm,” says Knut Olav Rød.

Haakon Stenrød has been a partner with the leading Nordic investment banking group ABG Sundal Collier. He has broad transaction experience from a number of industries, including M&A, equity capital markets, debt and restructuring advisory. He holds an M.Sc. in Industrial Economics and Technology Management from NTNU.

“Anders Christian and I agree that Watrium’s flexible investment mandate is a good match for my deep transaction competence and experience across industries. I particularly look forward to being able to work in-depth and over time with both portfolio companies and other investments in Watrium,” says Haakon Stenrød.

Both Rød and Stenrød will start in their new roles on 1 November 2018.

Watrium is a family-owned investment group that focuses on active, long-term ownership of a global financial portfolio, industrial assets and top-tier commercial property in central business districts.
